Restricted Access to Pool

UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, ACCESS TO, AND USE OF THE PINES’ POOL IS UNAVAILABLE UNTIL REMEDIAL GLASS FENCING WORK IS COMPLETED.

DUE TO FORECAST HIGH WINDS, WORK HAS BEEN SUSPENDED FOR THE REST OF THIS WEEK AND WILL RE-COMMENCE NEXT MONDAY 26TH AUGUST, TAKING APPROX. 2-3 DAYS. UNTIL THEN, POOL WILL REMAIN CLOSED

PLEASE DO NOT ENTER, AS LARGE AND DANGEROUS SHEETS OF GLASS ARE BEING STORED THERE.

The work is required due to a Council audit of the pool’s safety fencing. After several decades of being a non-issue, the beautiful heritage sandstone wall is now a safety issue as it is considered climbable. Options presented by the inspectors were to add to its height (unaffordable in sandstone; ugly in superimposing other types of unclimbable fencing), or to chip away all protruding rock on the face of the sandstone blocks so that it can’t be climbed. At the 14th March EGM the Owners’ Corporation resolved instead to install a frameless glass barrier fence as recommended by Council and compliant with Australian Standards Act 1926-1986, pursuant to Sec 23 of the Swimming Pools Act 1992.
