The NSW Government is making changes to rental laws to support renters and landlords in the NSW rental market.
Some of these changes have already started.
These include:
• limiting rent increases to once per year
• not charging renters for background checks.
The other changes will start in the first half of 2025 and include:
• ending no-grounds evictions
• making it easier to have pets
• providing fee-free ways to pay rent – such as bank transfer or Centrepay.
These changes will make renting in NSW fairer and will help give more stability for renters and certainty for landlords.
