Native Birds Issues

PLS DO NOT ATTRACT OR FEED NATIVE BIRDS

Complaints have been received by residents regarding the attraction and feeding of cockatoos and other native birds. The Pines has a by-law specifically prohibiting bird feeding.

The nuisance is most felt by residents on levels below where the birds roost on the balcony balustrades with droppings soiling railings, glass panels and balcony tiles. The mess is difficult to remove particularly when dry.

Reports indicate repeated bird landings at apartments on level 4 and 11 being the most obvious. Bird traffic must be actively and continually discouraged as birds tend to return to places where they have been attracted.

in addition, the cockatoos cause additional damage by shredding the rubber seals on our windows which increases water damage to property.
