Pines News Update

Northern Beaches Area continues to have the 3rd highest rate of confirmed COVID-19 cases in NSW. As of April 28, we had 156 confirmed cases.  This is a slow but steady increase, and Northern Beaches has now been added to the list for increased testing and surveillance.

The NSW Government has announced an update on COVID-19 restrictions and how our schools and retail outlets will look for the month of May.  Key changes that will take effect across NSW next month include:
1.    From Friday, 1 May up to two adults and their dependent children will be allowed to visit another household.
2.    We will see a return of face-to-face teaching from 11 May, and then will consider accelerating a full return to school as soon as possible.

The two-person gathering limit still applies to public places.

GARBAGE WARS II

Flattening the curve is filling up our bins! Like everyone else, we are experiencing an increased uptake of home delivery products, resulting in a LOT of cardboard boxes and packaging. Our blue-lid bins (paper and cardboard) become rapidly overfull, so please, break down and fold your boxes. Look on it as an exercise in creative physical exercise!

Which leads us to…

GARBAGE WARS III

A massive spike in soft plastics (bags, toilet paper wrapping; food packaging, even Aust.Post delivery bags) are being stuffed into yellow-lid recycle bins, which makes the whole bin-full unable to be recycled. This also includes take-away coffee cups!  Coffee cups plus ALL crushable plastics need to go in the red-lid bins, headed for landfill.

PINES COMMUNITY VEGETABLE GARDEN

The jungle at the bottom of the garden (at the back of the swimming pool) has been cleared and a ‘cut and come again’ seasonal vegetable and herb garden is being created there. First in will be winter vegetables and some perennial herbs.

PINES DELIVERIES/VISITOR POLICY

All deliveries of food and parcels; all visitors and tradespeople are a source of potential infection.  They must be accepted or greeted personally at front door.
