NSW Fire & Safety Charging Guidelines

PINES ELECTRIC BIKE AND SCOOTER REGISTRATION

This form is to comply with the Storage and Charging of Electric Bikes and Scooters Pines By-law. All electric bike and scooter devices must be registered with the Owners Corporation.

The Owners Corporation of The Pines has adopted a by-law on the Storage and Charging of Electric Bikes and Scooters, approved at the Annual General Meeting held on 25 August 2025.

This by-law was introduced in response to warnings from Fire and Rescue NSW regarding the significant fire risks associated with lithium-ion batteries. Fires involving these batteries can ignite rapidly, release toxic fumes, and cause serious property damage and risk to life.

The by-law requires that residents:

  • Do not charge devices in common property areas (carparks, foyers, stairwells, storage rooms).
  • Charge only inside your lot using manufacturer-approved chargers in ventilated, non-combustible areas.
  • Remove batteries when storing devices in permitted common areas unless otherwise approved.
  • Register all e-bikes, e-scooters, and similar devices with the Owners Corporation via this form.

By completing this form, you are registering your device in compliance with the by-law. This helps protect residents, visitors, and property, and ensures our community meets fire safety and insurance obligations.

⚠️ Failure to register or comply with these conditions may result in enforcement action, including a Notice to Comply or referral to NCAT.
