Responsible Dog Ownership at The Pines

Dog Waste on Common Property

There have been multiple incidents reported where dogs have been allowed to roam freely and defecate on common property, particularly on grassed areas and in gardens used regularly by children and families. Most recently, dog feces was left on the lawn near the herb garden, and residents observed dogs running off-leash in the gardens.

Your Responsibilities Under the By-Laws

  • Dogs must be on a leash at all times when on common property, including lawns, gardens, pathways, and lifts.
  • Owners must clean up after their dogs immediately and dispose of waste appropriately.
  • Residents are also responsible for ensuring that these rules are followed by any visiting dogs or when caring for a dog on behalf of family or friends.
  • Failure to comply is a breach of our by-laws and may result in formal action.

Why It Matters

The common areas are shared by all residents and are not designated pet play zones. Allowing dogs to defecate or run freely in these areas is a health risk and a nuisance, particularly for families with young children.

How You Can Help

  • Keep your dog on a leash at all times on common property.
  • Always clean up after your pet.
  • Make sure any guests or family members caring for a dog understand and follow these rules.
  • Be considerate of noise and avoid letting dogs bark or run loose.

We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a clean, safe, and respectful environment for everyone at The Pines.
